The Talbot Trail Boys is a band of brothers--Darl Smith, Thom Smith, and Zack Smith--whose archetypal sound was forged by the humidity and toil of summers in Deep Southwestern Ontario. In 1993, they recorded an album of folk and country tunes in the barn on their family's fruit farm, using gear purchased with pooled wages from the peach and tobacco harvests. These haunting recordings had become virtually lost to time until their rediscovery at a yard sale in St. Thomas by Henry Adam Svec, Canadian folklorist and song collector, who subsequently decided to investigate the history and current whereabouts of the band. The resulting audio documentary is entitled Souwesto Gothic: The Case of The Talbot Trail Boys, and all six parts of this epic tragedy were released in the fall of 2025.

Meanwhile, the self-titled debut The Talbot Trail Boys is also now, finally, available.
